Fish Logs

Fish logs are a combination of fried fish and mashed potatoes dipped on your favorite sauce or gravy. These are like finger foods to enjoy with your family and a good appetizer too.

I made this for dinner consuming our leftovers of fried fish we had for lunch. Aside from eating this solely over cold drinks, I love this eating paired with hot steamed rice dipped in sweet and spicy ketchup as well! I enjoyed the flavor of crisp potatoes mixed with the fish that lingers through my mouth when eaten. It’s a mouth-watering and very simple recipe to prepare! Try it!

Ingredients:
  • 2 pcs. medium size potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup fried fish, shredded
  • 1 small size onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1-2 teaspoon salt
  • pinch of pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten

Procedure for Fish Logs:
1.   Place 2 cups of water in a saucepan and bring to boil. Place unpeeled potatoes over boiling water and cook for about 15-20 mins or until you can easily insert the fork through them. Peel the potatoes. Transfer to a plate and mash using fork. Set aside.
2.    Beat the egg. Set aside
3.    Combine all the ingredients from shredded fish down to pepper. Combine mixture over the mashed potatoes. Mix well.
4.    Take about 1 tablespoon from the mixture then form a log (you can also form into balls if you like). Repeat procedure until you completely form all the mixtures into logs. Soak into the beaten egg.
5.    Heat oil over medium heat.
6.    Deep fry the logs into batches until golden brown and crisp.
7.    Serve and enjoy while still hot and crispy.
