Fried SPAM Sandwich in a Hurry

SPAM is my favorite imported good. It’s a canned precooked meat and is a short term of spiced ham. We have two ways of eating SPAM, during breakfast paired with steamed rice; and during snack on a toasted sandwich.
This time I am making a Fried SPAM sandwich for our weekend snack. This recipe is one of my husband’s favorite.! I made it simply by slicing the meat as thin as I could, fried it in a pan, dabbed with a mayonnaise on it, covered with toasted bread, and eat! Very quick to prepare and it was kinda good for a hungry stomach.. It can also be eaten when in hurry like breakfast, lunch and dinner together with your favorite soup or even in a cup of coffee. I usually do this when we have fried SPAMS leftovers during breakfast. It’s a yummy easy treat, cheap and fast to prepare too!

Ingredients:
  • 6-8 pieces sliced SPAM (or depending on your desired thickness)
  • Sliced bread
  • Sliced cheddar cheese
  • 3 or more tablespoons mayonnaise for dressing
  • 2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil
  • 2 raw eggs
  • pinch of salt to taste

Procedure for Fried SPAM Sandwich:
  1. Whisk the eggs in clean bowl. Put salt to taste. Set aside.
  2. Open a can of SPAM. Slice thinly ( depending on your desired thickness).
  3. Heat pan on a low heat, add olive oil. Cook each side of SPAM until golden brown (be sure not to burn the SPAM). Transfer to a plate. Set aside.
  4. Cook a scrambled egg. Use the pan where you cooked your SPAM a while ago. Slice into squares and set aside.
  5. Toast the sliced bread.
  6. Spread with enough mayonnaise on the bread. Top it with fried SPAM, sliced cheese and scrambled egg. Spread mayonnaise on another toasted bread and place on top of everything to cover.
  7. Slice diagonally and serve.

You can also add lettuce and fresh tomatoes to fill the bread to add more flavor if you’d like.

Makes 6-8 serving or 12-16 small slices.
